Deutschlandstipendium
Vice President's greeting
Dear friends and supporters,
Dear students of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg,
Participation in the Deutschlandstipendium programme has long since become a good tradition at the Carl von Ossietzky University. Together with private educational sponsors, we have been supporting a steadily growing number of high-achieving and committed students since 2011: more than 60 scholarship holders now receive €300 per month for a year. The lively network that has been created to promote young talent is a cause for celebration.
How does it work?
A key feature of the Deutschlandstipendium is the unique way in which it is funded: Private donations are matched by the federal government. In this way, for every euro we raise, the scholarship holders receive a full two euros.
Can you only apply with top grades?
Good grades are good arguments, but they are not the only criteria: Voluntary work improves the chances of applying and individual social, family or personal circumstances are also taken into account. There is currently a particular focus on supporting first-time graduates, i.e. students whose parents do not have a university degree.
However, the field of study does not play a role - applications from students from all six faculties are welcome and have the same chances. The Deutschlandstipendium is intended to provide valuable support to as diverse a group of our students as possible!
Why is the Deutschlandstipendium a benefit for everyone?
The Deutschlandstipendium has a lasting effect. Many of the private individuals, foundations, associations and societies that become educational sponsors at the University of Oldenburg remain permanently connected to "their" scholarship holders. The personal contact enriches both sides: The students experience personal support instead of anonymous funding and the donors get to know the talented young people of tomorrow today.
Incidentally, the financial relief that a Deutschlandstipendium means for the scholarship holders is only one half of the award: an equally motivating and great benefit is the appreciation and recognition of achievement and social commitment that comes with the Deutschlandstipendium, which confirms to the scholarship holders that they are on the right track.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the educational sponsors already involved for their commitment. I very much hope that together we can gain many new supporters and look forward to receiving as many diverse applications as possible in the current round of applications!
Kind regards
Prof Dr Andrea Strübind
