"Who is Who" of scientists

Prof. Dr. Helmut Hillebrand, marine biologist and biodiversity expert at the University of Oldenburg, remains in the list of highly cited scientists. He is listed together with around 3 200 scientists from 21 different research fields. In this list, there are less than 200 scientists from all over Germany, among them eight from Lower Saxony.

Marine scientist Helmut Hillebrand ranks among the international Who’s who of scientists

Oldenburg. Prof. Dr. Helmut Hillebrand, marine biologist and biodiversity expert at the University of Oldenburg, remains in the list of highly cited scientists. He is listed together with around 3 200 scientists from 21 different research fields. In this list, there are less than 200 scientists from all over Germany, among them eight from Lower Saxony.

The ranking list “Highly Cited Researchers”, issued by Clarivate Analytics (former media group Thomson Reuters) is based on the citation data bank “Web of science”. It covers the most cited one percent of scientific publications.

At the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) Hillebrand is the head of the research group Planktology and is the designated director of the Helmholtz-Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity which will be set up in Oldenburg in 2017. His research focusses on biodiversity and the structure of aquatic food web.
