Is your academic stay at our university already arranged? We recommend that you register as soon as possible in our web portal for international researchers. Then you can benefit straight away from our services. We can provide you with helpful advice on the following:

  • Getting to know the university and the city of Oldenburg

  • Finding accommodation
  • Cultural and networking events

Financing of teaching and research periods

There are many ways of financing your stay.

Apart from the option of a job at the university (job offers at the University of Oldenburg), you may be eligible for a scholarship or other support programme for teaching and research periods.

You can find a detailed overview of funding opportunities for your research stay in Oldenburg on the pages of the Department for Research and Transfer (including information about support programmes and scholarships from the DAAD and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation):

If you are planning a guest lectureship, you may qualify for funds from the Carl von Ossietzky guest lectureship programme. PLEASE NOTE: An application for this funding can only be submitted by a member of the University of Oldenburg; guest lecturers cannot apply for it directly.

The Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers funding for at-risk researchers. PLEASE NOTE: The University itself applies for this support, not the researcher. If you are interested in this option, please contact a possible cooperation partner in the relevant school to find out about concrete cooperation opportunities.
