A success story began around two decades ago: ‘LernortLabor’ (LeLa) was launched to network school laboratories across Europe. In these practice-orientated extracurricular laboratories, pupils can experience science at first hand, experiment and make their own discoveries. They are given the opportunity to explore scientific topics beyond their regular lessons, which awakens their enthusiasm for technology and research.
To mark the 20th anniversary, the annual conference will take place at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg from 9 to 11 March 2025. At the 20th LeLa annual conference in Oldenburg, the student labs will show what practical education of tomorrow looks like and the important contribution they make to promoting young talent in the STEM subjects as well as the humanities and social sciences.
A laboratory tour to the physiXS school laboratory will also take place at this conference. physiXS has a central function in physics teacher training; it is integrated into practical courses in which students develop and realise individual experiment stations for school classes. For school classes in the region, physiXS serves to introduce them to the physics of everyday life, technology and changes in today's world, for example through programmes on climate or energy physics.
During this laboratory tour, students demonstrate how they implement and continuously develop innovative, extra-curricular topics such as ultrasound (with medical references) and physical approaches to sustainability (via building physics or energy supply) at physiXS.
