Tiny Forest
Tiny Forest
A Tiny Forest is to be created on the Haarentor campus this year. This is a small forest specially designed for small areas in urban spaces. The joint planting event for employees and students will take place at the university on November 29, 2024.
A Tiny Forest is a small, densely planted forest that is planted in urban areas. These mini-forests often consist of native tree species and usually only cover around 200 to 400 square meters. The aim is to ecologically enhance smaller areas, such as the classic dog meadow. They can have a positive impact on biodiversity at the site, contribute to climate protection and adaptation and improve air quality.
The Tiny Forest is located on the Haarentor site on the meadow between the assembly hall and building A07. A total of almost 450 seedlings were planted during the campaign. The area is around 180m2 in size. A total of almost 40 people took part in the event. The planting concept was created by MIYA e.V. and slightly revised by experts from the University of Oldenburg. The Tiny Forest contains various native species. Fruit trees and berry bushes were planted on the edges and along the path. The rest of the forest consists of these species:
