Lectures
Lectures
There is so much to explore in the world. This year at the KinderCampus, you can find out why politics is also something for children and why we need the diversity of the sea. Two exciting lectures await you in the Audimax - our largest lecture theatre. Please register for the individual dates. The lecture theatre belongs only to you children. If the events are already fully booked, it's still worth dropping by. Maybe someone has cancelled and there is spontaneously still a place available.
The lectures will be broadcast to seminar rooms A14 1-112 and 1-113. Your accompanying adults and siblings can also follow the lectures there.
11.00 a.m. "Politics is not for children? Not at all!"
by Lena Haug, Institute of Educational Sciences
It is often said that politics is a subject only for adults and still too difficult and uninteresting for children. But is that true? No! Children already know quite a lot about politics and are interested in various political topics. But what is politics anyway and what does it have to do with your life? What political issues are important to you and other children? What do politicians actually do for children? And how can you express your wishes and ideas in a democracy? In the lecture, you will get answers to these questions and also have the opportunity to talk to people who work in the field of politics about your questions and ideas.
3.00 pm "Everything is so colourful here - why we need the diversity of the sea"
by Prof Dr Helmut Hillebrand, Institute of Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM)
Tiny algae float in all the world's oceans and do - well, what do they actually do? And why are there so many different forms and species? And what does this have to do with us humans? We unravel the mystery by delving deep into the development of life on earth, asking ourselves why the smallest organisms can change the climate of the entire planet and why our breathing and nutrition depend on these single-celled organisms. In particular, we will look at why there are so many different forms of algae - and learn that being different is important. Finally, we will think together about what life in the water feels like when you are an algae.
