Tobias Hoffmann, a student at the Institute of Physics, won second place in the prize awarded by the Centre for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM) at the University of Bremen for special academic achievements in the field of space research with his bachelor's thesis supervised by Prof. Dr Björn Poppe and Dr Gerhard Drolshagen. Hoffmann had developed a system for amateur telescopes with which follow-up observations of newly discovered near-Earth asteroids can be carried out fully automatically.
