The identity and expression of various proteins involved in interactions between retinal neurons are illuminated by using RT-PCR, single cell RT-PCR, in situ hybridisation, various transfection methods, cloning, sequencing and immunoprecipitation. Posttranslational modifications of specific proteins, as induced by different light conditions, are analyzed using various electrophoresis techniques and Western blots.

The group is equipped with three S1-laboratories including a cell culture laboratory and has access to a radionuclide laboratory for radio-assays.
