To introduce first-year students to the professional tools the University Library offers in a subject-specific context:
- knowledge of subject-specific information on offer
- proficiency in using search tools
- knowledge of appropriate search strategies
- a critical approach to search results

- searches in the Library catalogue and library network catalogues
- subject-specific databases for searching for literature and researching facts
- electronic journals
- web recommendations
- interlibrary loans/document delivery (basics)
- processing search results

Course-integrated: Subject-specific research workshop integrated into a course

To brush up participants' literature research skills as well as teach them about specialised sources of information for an in-depth approach to a new research topic.

- subject-relevant materials: reference works, lexicons, collections of source material, websites, e-books, ...
