Erasmus + BIPs for students

The Blended Intensive Programme enables selected students to combine a short stay abroad with a virtual component.

Benefits of an Erasmus+ BIP

  • Combination of a physical and virtual component
  • Fixed study group with specialist programme and some leisure activities on site
  • Possibility to spend a period abroad even if a longer stay is difficult or impossible, for example due to care duties.
  • Get a taste of life abroad at Erasmus partner schools to see if a longer stay might be worth considering

Who receives funding?

The following groups are primarily eligible for Erasmus+ funding for a Blended Intensive Programme

  • Students entitled to a top-up for individuals with fewer opportunities (Social top-up) due to a disability, chronic illness or childcare responsibilities

  • Students participating in BIPs of strategic partners/close collaborations within Europe

  • PhD students who are regularly enrolled at the University of Oldenburg. The virtual component is not compulsory for these students.

If there are sufficient funds, other students may also receive Erasmus+ funding. Department representatives should be involved and the project should be supported by the Erasmus+ departmental coordinator.

Grants are in principle awarded subject to sufficient funding being allocated by the NA DAAD.

What is funded?

Requirements for funding BIP participation:

  • virtual component and physical mobility lasting 5 to 10 days
  • stays at partner universities within Europe
  • Crediting of at least 3 ECTS

An inter-institutional agreement (Erasmus contract) must exist between the universities. You can find relevant information here. The digital component may need to be added to the Erasmus contract. You can find information on this in the International Office.

Application process (incl. Erasmus+ funding)

The application deadline is 1 February each year.

Before applying, clarify the credit transfer with the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator or the subject representative for credit transfer matters.

If there is sufficient funding, it may also be possible to apply after the deadline. In this case, you should apply at least 6 weeks before the start of the BIP (which also includes the virtual phase!)

Application process (zero grant participation)

If there is insufficient funding or you were not selected for funding, you can apply for zero grant funding. This means that you can participate in the BIP without an Erasmus grant. Please observe the following steps:

  1. Clarify credit transfer with subject coordinator
  2. Apply at least 4 weeks before the start (this also includes the virtual phase!)

Application documents

  • Erasmus+ online application signed off by the Erasmus+ departmental coordinator
