Prof. Dr Gerd Hentschel, who was a lecturer in Slavic linguistics at School III - School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies from 1993 to 2021, was appointed an honorary member of the International Committee of Slavists at the 17th International Congress of Slavists in Paris in August 2025. Between 2008 and 2018, he represented German Slavic studies within this international umbrella organisation.
