The FSPMP sees itself as an interdisciplinary platform for bundling projects on the connection between popular music and various politics in the past and present, in local, regional and global contexts and in pedagogical contexts, taking into account media-technological forms of communication and economic contexts.

The FSPMP is dedicated to supporting and promoting young academics in the field of popular music and politics before, during and after their doctorate and aims to raise awareness of the subject both inside and outside the university.

The aim is to establish a highly visible interdisciplinary point of contact for advice in this area, for example with regard to the development of educational formats or the evaluation of funding programmes in the field of popular music.
