"forsch!" - Sabrina Nordmann wins the university's design competition

Sabrina Nordmann, Bachelor's student of Art & Media, German Studies, has won the student design competition for the University of Oldenburg's online journal "forsch!". Nordmann designed a logo for the interactive student journal, which will be launched this autumn.

Her logo, an owl, adorns the homepage and the cover of "forsch!". The idea for the online journal came about as part of the university's "Research-based learning in focus" (FLiF) project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). "forsch!" introduces students to scientific research and offers them a platform on which they can publish and discuss their own scientific contributions. A total of 21 logo proposals were submitted by students from a wide range of disciplines.

An interdisciplinary jury chaired by Dr Claudia Schrader, Deputy Professor of Research-Based Learning, nominated Nordmann's design. "With 'forsch!', we want to involve students in the project right from the start - even when it comes to developing a logo. Sabrina Nordmann's design won us over because it is creative, memorable, striking and versatile," said jury member Schrader.

Nordmann receives an iPad mini for her winning design. Second place in the design competition went to Ipek Ince, Bachelor student of Art & Media, German Studies. Third place went to Max Wolf, Art & Media student. Wolf and Ince each received a Kindle Paper White. The design competition was sponsored by the Universitätsgesellschaft Oldenburg (UGO).
