Obituary - Kaushal Chhatbar

We are really sorry to inform the PPRE-community, that our beloved Kaushal Chhatbar from India (PPRE 2009-11) died in a car accident back in India at the beginning of June 2021. After joining Suntrace Co. in Hamburg right after his PPRE-studies in Oldenburg, Kaushal returned back to India with his family in 2017.
Please find the orbituary from his Suntrace colleague in the following.

This obituary was written by Richard Meyer, a colleague from Kausal at Suntrance.

On June 9, 2021, our highly estimated former colleague Kaushal Chhatbar untimely passed away in an accident in India. He was a very respected member of Suntrace GmbH from 2010 to 2017. We are in deep grief about the loss of a much too young individual who will always be remembered as a very kind, friendly and yet highly professional person.

At Suntrace I was the one working closest with Kaushal: 2010, he started doing his Master Thesis at University of Oldenburg in collaboration with Suntrace. Through his great support and wise advise we had been successful in winning and executing many mandates, also in India. Most outstanding had been Kaushal’s support for creating the New Solar Atlas of India in an international collaboration between the Indian Ministry for New and Renewable Energy MNRE and the German Ministry for Environment. I had the pleasure to spend many weeks together with Kaushal in his home country. Thanks to Kaushal, I learnt to better understand the people and the culture. We had much trust in Kaushal and even asked him to build up Suntrace Energy India. After Kaushal decided to leave Suntrace in 2017 we kept good contact with him and just few days ago, we asked him to support us on a project for improving grid integration of solar energy in his home-state Gujarat. With Kaushal we lose a very kind and honest person, who contributed a lot making India and several other countries cleaner and less dependent from fossil fuels. With Suntrace alone, Kaushal co-authored in 18 scientific publications which reflects his bright mind and deep understanding of renewable energies.

We will miss Kaushal truly and our hearts and our sorrow are with his family.
Richard Meyer on behalf of the whole Suntrace Team
