The Language Centre at the University of Oldenburg cooperates with the Instituto Cervantes in Bremen in the organisation and delivery of Spanish courses. Almost all of the teachers on the Spanish courses are teachers from the Instituto Cervantes. The course content and course structures are based on the IC courses. Students at the University of Oldenburg therefore not only receive practical language lessons, but also gain in-depth insights into the culture of Spanish-speaking countries through this co-operation.

In addition to teaching the language, the Instituto Cervantes also offers certification of language skills. There are regular DELE appointments in Bremen and the Spanish courses at the Language Centre are excellent preparation for this internationally recognised language exam.

The Instituto Cervantes Bremen is an open house and serves as a meeting place for all those interested in any aspect of the diverse culture of Spanish-speaking countries. With regard to Spain, the Instituto claims to disseminate culture both in Spanish and in the other official languages spoken in different regions of Spain.

We understand culture in a broad sense and in all its diversity, so our programme provides a framework for a wide variety of activities, from lectures and literary readings, to folklore and gastronomy, to music in all its ancient and modern variations (classical, contemporary, jazz, folk, etc.), theatre, dance or exhibitions.

In general, admission is free to all activities organised by the Instituto itself. In order to make our cultural offer accessible to a wider audience, most of the activities are bilingual.
