Chinese

The Language Centre offers Chinese for absolute beginners as well as for learners with previous knowledge. The courses for beginners always start in the winter semester, the summer semester then builds on the knowledge from the winter semester.
You can find the times and rooms of all courses in Stud.IP.

ATTENTION: If you are studying economics with a focus on China, there are special language courses for you in the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics, and Law. Please inform yourself in your study programme.

Chinese Basic Module 1 - pb101

Learning outcomes / competences Reading: He/she can recognise and understand 100 characters and basic words composed of them, can understand simple expressions of everyday life in standard Chinese and convert the characters into pinyin. Listening: He/she can understand familiar words and very simple sentences on familiar topics, provided it is spoken slowly and clearly. Speaking: He/she can ask and answer simple questions on familiar topics and make simple requests. Writing: He/she can confidently determine the number of strokes in learned characters and write characters in the correct stroke order. He/she can give simple personal information, e.g. write his/her name, age, address and origin on forms, and write about him/herself in simple sentences. Learning outcomes / competences Reading: He/she can recognise and read 200 characters with confidence, can read and understand short and simple texts dealing with everyday matters (forms, simple notices, signs). Listening: He/she can understand very simple texts on familiar topics when spoken slowly and clearly. Speaking: He/she can pronounce words correctly and largely recognise and reproduce the intonation of Chinese. Can give important information, make suggestions and respond to suggestions in simple conversations.
