The Northwest German Functional Analysis Colloquium was founded in 1985. In recent years, it has been organised by the universities of Bielefeld, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Duisburg-Essen, Münster, Oldenburg, Osnabrück, Paderborn and Wuppertal in alternating years.
The 44th meeting will take place on Saturday 10 May 2025 at the University of Oldenburg (in room W1 0-015 on the Wechloy campus), approx. 10 am - 5 pm.
Overview : This workshop will explore recent developments in calculus of variations and PDEs, focusing on the areas: spectral theory, nonlocal operators, and functional inequalities.
The scientific programme will occupy three full days, 22-24 July. It is expected that most participants arrive on July 21 and depart on July 25. If you are interested and want to participate in this workshop, please send an email to firoj.sk@uol.de

How does truth arise in mathematics? From Euclid to Banach-Tarski
M. Sc. Kiyan Naderi, Institute of Mathematics, University of Oldenburg
How does mathematics actually come about? How do we know that certain statements are true or false? Is maths invented or discovered? And what does maths have to do with the real world anyway? This lecture sheds light on the nature of maths, its function as a universal language and its relationship to reality. An exciting insight for anyone who wants to experience maths from a new perspective!
