How does knowledge reach people, how do people acquire knowledge?
Inspired by the productions of the various departments of the Oldenburg State Theatre, "wissenskunst" combines artistic performance, readings and music with a scientific perspective on topics relevant to our everyday lives.
Mangrove forests and climate change, opera and the ethics of digitalisation, democracy and young theatre – speakers from the University of Oldenburg and artists from the State Theatre meet at different venues, complementing each other, opening up new perspectives for the audience, provoking thought and touching the heart.
MAJORITY AND JUSTICE IN A DEMOCRACY
Sun 15 Feb | 6 p.m. | Exhalle
Dr Teresa Griebau from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Oldenburg comments on Henrik Ibsen's play "An Enemy of the People" from a sociological perspective. The lecture and subsequent discussion will have the topic of "Public opinion formation, majority and law in a modern democracy" at their centre. Scientific perspectives will be complemented by scenic excerpts from Milena Paulovic's production.
wissenskunst is a co-operation project for new perspectives, in which scientific topics meet artistic interventions from the fields of state theatre.
