Description
In 1982, Carol Gilligan challenged the reigning model of moral development with a simple but radical claim: care, not abstract justice, is where much of our moral life actually happens. This seminar traces how that provocation grew into a full ethical theory – one that takes dependency, relationships, and vulnerability seriously instead of treating the autonomous individual as the default. We will read foundational and contemporary texts and ask what care ethics can offer that justice-based theories tend to miss.
