In the University Medicine Oldenburg, the School VI Medicine and Health Sciences works together with four legally independent hospitals, the Klinikum Oldenburg AöR, the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Oldenburg, the Pius-Hospital Oldenburg and the Karl-Jaspers-Klinik.

The four hospitals are home to the various university clinics, depending on their specialist orientation. With over 50,000 inpatient and 130,000 outpatient cases in the university hospitals in 2021, University Medicine Oldenburg is central to health care in the entire northwest.

In addition to patient care and the training of students and junior medical staff, clinical research plays an increasing role in the cooperation between the university and the cooperating hospitals. The existing research strength will be further expanded and promoted in the future, as will the range of attractive teaching opportunities and trusting co-operation in health care.
