Erasmus+ internship
With Erasmus+, students and graduates of all subjects can apply for scholarships for an internship abroad within the EU and other selected countries. Stays of 2 to 12 months in target countries within the EU and other selected countries can be funded with a partial scholarship.
The complete application documents must be submitted at least six weeks before the start of the internship. Erasmus internship scholarships are awarded by the EU-Hochschulbüro Hannover.

- Supervision during the internship by a contact person at the home university and at the employer's
- Support with preparation (cultural, linguistic, organisational)

International Mobility
It iErasmus+ support is also available for internships outside the countries mentioned above. This is done through the so-called "International Mobility". The application procedure is the same as for the regular application. However, fewer funds are available for this, which is why rejections are more frequent than with regular applications.
Special information for internships in the United Kingdom
For interns, a Government Authorised Exchange visa (Temporary Work) is required as part of the Erasmus+ programme for a stay in the United Kingdom. In order to apply for such a visa, participants must have a so-called Certificate of sponsorship, which is issued for Erasmus+ by the British Council. The certificate of sponsorship is a reference number that contains information about the position and the participant's personal data and is valid for three months from the date of issue. The application for the reference number must be submitted to the British Council by the individual grantee. This process can take up to three weeks and is free of charge for German citizens.
The visa application can be completed online at after submitting the reference number from the certificate of sponsorship and costs 244 British pounds (German citizens receive a discount of 55 British pounds). Access to the NHS, the public health service, is subject to an Immigration Health Surcharge. Calculate Immigration Health Surcharge
No minimum salary is specified in the government authorised exchange visa category (temporary work). However, students must prove that their living expenses are covered by the Erasmus+ funding and/or the internship salary and may not apply for public benefits.
