Sebastian Hemesath is Research Associate and PhD student in M1 of the research group SEAS (Social Embeddedness of Autonomous Cyber Physical Systems). SEAS focusses on the social, normative and ethical embeddedness of autonomous, technical systems. Module M1 is especially concerned with the acceptance and dynamic interaction of autonomous vehicles with society, and seeks to explore how the design and behaviour of AVs can aid in their acceptance as equal participants in urban traffic. How do AVs influence the existing interaction of traffic users, and how do we manage situations of informal decision-making to avoid conflicts? The research aims at providing answers towards the governance, regulation, acceptance and design of AVs.
