Upon enrollment, all students receive the university's CampusCard. To use the CampusCard as library card a one-time registration is required using your university account (abcd1234 plus password). Following that, the CampusCard must be presented at the user services desk for a final validation.

Staff without a library card

For staff at the University of Oldenburg, the CampusCard (staff card) can be activated as a library card. This requires a one-off online registration.

Once you have registered, you can have your CampusCard activated at the BIS User Services desk.

Staff with a library card

In autumn 2021, the CampusCard will besentto all university staff. It serves as a staff card and has additional functions, such as operating the multifunction printers, gaining access to buildings and performing time recording. Further information can be found on the university’s FAQ page.

In future, it will be possible to use the CampusCard as a library card if you already hold an ORBIS library card. To do so, please contact the University Library’s User Services.

From the 2021 summer semester onwards, the University of Oldenburg will issue the CampusCard to registered visiting students. This new card will replace the paper ID card previously used (further information).

The CampusCard for visiting students cannot be used as a library card .

A one-off online registration is required to register for use of the library.

Once you have registered, you can collect your library card from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 6 pm at the BIS User Services desk.

The following documents are required:

• a valid identity card or a valid passport with a certificate of residence
• Registration fee: 5 euros

For underage users, the following is also required:

• A parental consent form (PDF)

If you are from abroad and are not a member of the university, you must present a residence permit as proof of residence.

If you already hold a library card from the Oldenburg State Library, please present this when registering.

The library card is non-transferable.

Once you have your card, you will receive a password for your library account by email, which you should change immediately in your library account.

If your library card stops working, please contact User Services. To avoid malfunctions, please handle the card with care and, above all, do not crease or bend it. If the card is damaged and is therefore no longer readable, we will not be able to refund any remaining credit.
