PhD Research Project

  • The Gender Pain Gap: Intersectional Perspectives on Chronic Pain Care: In her cumulative dissertation, Stefanie Beinert examines the Gender Pain Gap, i.e. gender-related inequalities in the diagnosis, care, and perception of chronic pain, using an intersectional mixed-methods approach. The dissertation combines epidemiological, health economic, and qualitative perspectives to explore how gender (and other social categories) influences access to and the quality of pain care. The research is embedded in the cross-border health campaign ExPEDition Schmerz/Expeditie Pijn (Ems-Dollart region, Germany–the Netherlands, UOL and UMCG).
