Research at UMO
Research at UMO
Research at the School VI Medicine and Health Sciences and University Medicine Oldenburg (UMO) is based on the interlinking of natural sciences, health sciences and clinical departments and is characterised by highly interdisciplinary research, as is the case for its two research focuses of hearing research and neurosensorics as well as healthcare research . It believes that this is a prerequisite for developing future-proof and patient-centred solutions for the complex challenges in the healthcare system.
Vision - Healthcare4all
The UMO aims to transform and secure healthcare in north-west Germany so that all residents of the region have equal access to high-quality healthcare services. The UMO strives to establish an integrative and patient-centred healthcare system that focuses on prevention, care and aftercare and takes into account the individual needs and challenges of each person.
Research focus
Hearing research/neurosensory technology
With the cluster of excellence Hearing4all and two special research areas in the field of hearing research/neurosensory technology, UMO is a recognised location for research into sensory systems and their impairments. It also has a great deal of expertise in the field of neuromodulation. Interdisciplinary research is brought together in the Centre of Excellence for Hearing Research and the Research Centre Neurosensory Science.
Health services research
One focus of UMO's research is on prevention and living with health impairments. Remote health approaches improve and prolong the independence of older people, especially in rural areas. Research at recognised affiliated institutes such as OFFIS or the Cross Border Institute of Healthcare Systems and Prevention ensures that research contributes to improved care in everyday life
