Approximately 200 guests, among them Prof. Dr. Oliver Zielinski representing ICBM, recently participated in the kick-off event of the German Marine Research Alliance (DAM). In the FUTURIUM – a House of Futures in Berlin, the alliance introduced itself mainly by outlining its future tasks and objectives.
Among the speakers, the DAM deputy chairman, Michael Schulz, in particular emphasized the importance of a stakeholder-forum which the DAM is setting up. Consisting of members of different civil-society groups as well as corresponding foundations, associations and enterprises, integrating ministries from the Federation and the States as well as EU expertise, it is going to be the real “theme generator“ of the research alliance. By this instrument current activities will be discussed and the different research requirements of society, politics, economy and science will be determined. Respective project proposals will be evaluated by a top-notch international advisory board prior to implementation.
