On the occasion of the Ocean Science Meeting, representatives of ICBM and Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) signed a cooperation agreement at the end of February. With this agreement, initiated by ICBM marine scientist Prof. Dr. Meinhard Simon, both institutions want to promote marine research for the benefit of society.

The Scripps Institution at the University of California is one of the oldest und most renowned marine research institutions in the USA. Already in the past, scientists of ICBM and SIO cooperated on an individual basis. The recently signed cooperation agreement now provides a mandatory framework for the exchange of scientists and students as well as for common research activities.
