Master Integrated Media
Master Integrated Media
Welcome to the Integrated Media master's degree programme!
The master's degree programme Integrated Media is an application-oriented media science degree programme. It teaches both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dealing with media. The focus is on image- and sound-generating media, their aesthetic characteristics, historical developments and economic and legal foundations as well as current challenges. In addition, the convergence of image and sound in contemporary media culture is analysed, creatively implemented and tested. The degree programme pursues media research with a cultural studies orientation, which understands artistic and creative practice as an integral part of a comprehensive education that firstly combines the fields of art and music and secondly understands theory and practice as mutually enriching approaches to media.
This interdisciplinary master's degree programme, which deals with auditory and visual media in an integrated manner, prepares students for academic appointments in contemporary media culture, as well as providing them with the skills to analyse and theoretically reflect on the aesthetics, economics and politics of media. The Master's programme qualifies students for a broad spectrum of activities in cultural institutions and project contexts of media production and mediation (e.g. radio and television stations, media and web agencies, media art festivals, film productions, art and film mediation, curatorial practice, music production, music labels, etc.). The dynamic nature of these fields of work requires a high degree of independence, initiative, teamwork and a willingness to take risks.
