Prof. Dr Julia Brennecke has been appointed Professor of Organization and Leadership at the School of Computing Science, Business Administration, Economics, and Law. Previously, she was Professor of Innovation Management at both the University of Potsdam and at the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom). She will remain associated with the latter institution in the future.
Brennecke studied social sciences at the University of Göttingen, where she also completed her doctorate in business administration in 2012. She also worked as a research associate at the University of Freiburg, where she completed her habilitation in 2017. As part of her academic career, she held several positions abroad, including at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne (Australia) and at the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom). As a visiting researcher, she spent time at the Sciences Po in Paris (France) and the University of Toronto (Canada).
Brennecke's research centers on networks within and between organizations, particularly in innovation-intensive companies. Among other things, she studies collaboration and knowledge transfer, for instance in networks among leaders. One of her current research projects examines the networks of entrepreneurial households in Sub-Saharan Africa.
