(PPRE 2014-16) concluded his doctoral studies with the defense of his thesis. Fernando is currently employed as a Senior Scientific Researcher at the OFFIS Institute for Information Technology and at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oldenburg.

On Thursday, 07.03.2024, Fernando (PPRE 2014-16) successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled "Analyzing Interactions between Raw Material and Energy Demands for Data Centers." Under the expert guidance of Dr. Alexandra Pehlken and the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Nebel, along with the esteemed contributions of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Jorge Marx Gómez and Dr.-Ing. Sven Rosinger as additional members of the evaluation committee, Fernando presented the results of this extensive research project to a broad public of scholars and experts in the domain. The evaluation committee and the attending public assessed the expertise in the fields of Life Cycle Assessment, Critical Raw Materials, Data Center Infrastructure, Software Development, and Data Analytics. As a result of the efforts invested in this project, the degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences (Doktor der Ingenieurwissenschaften, Dr.-Ing.) has been awarded, with a Magna Cum Laude distinction. Fernando’s extensive and prolific publication record in various domains contributed to this grade.

Fernando is persisting in his research work, focusing on multi-domain simulation of communication and energy technologies for energy provisioning at the district level in the project ZLE, and on the environmental assessment of repairability and reusability of electronic components.
