PPRE alumnus works on an EU Project of Common Interest

Dr.-Ing. George Pechlivanoglou (PPRE 2005-07) is working at Eunice Energy Group in Greece since 2017 and has been CTO since 2019. Their project of battery energy storage systems (BESS) has recently been recognized as one of the European Union's Projects of Common Interest (PCI).

Ten years after completing our PPRE program (which is now called SuRE), Dr.-Ing. George Pechlivanoglou has joind the Eunice Energy Group in Greece. Among other projects, the Eunice Energy Group works on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Now, Dr.-Ing. Pechlivanoglou proudly reports on one of their newest achievements – the recognition as an European Union’s Project of Common Interest (PCI):

This is a significant achievement for us and an essential step forward in supporting the EU's energy transition goals.

BESS Ptolemaida is at the forefront of integrating renewable energy sources into the European electricity grid. By leveraging advanced battery storage technology, the project aims to enhance grid stability, increase the efficiency of renewable energy utilization, and ensure a more secure energy supply across Europe. This initiative not only aligns with the EU's Green Deal ambitions but also represents a significant stride towards combating climate change with sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions.

The recognition of BESS Ptolemaida in the PCI list underscores the project's vital role in the EU's energy infrastructure and its potential to address some of the most pressing challenges in renewable energy integration. As someone deeply involved in the strategic development and innovation at EUNICE ENERGY GROUP, this project holds a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled about the impact it will have on our collective future.
