The researchers of the Reallabor 70 GW Offshore Wind come from various research institutions. ForWind coordinates the project and is involved in numerous sub-projects.
On October 14th, 2024, the joint project TEN.efzn launched in Hanover. ForWind will participate in the TEN.efzn on the research platform Reallabor 70 GW Offshore Wind – a living lab, spanning a number of research institutes in Lower Saxony. In several sub-projects, the expansion of wind energy in the German North Sea, planned for completion by 2045, will be holistically analyzed and supported from a socio-technical perspective. This involves developing foundations and pathways for achieving the targeted 70 gigawatts of offshore capacity, which will then be translated into actionable strategies for sustainable expansion in collaboration with the wind industry. The researchers involved will address issues including potential societal conflicts, opportunities and conditions for success, marine spatial planning, life-cycle management of wind turbines, system integration and aerodynamics, as well as potential impacts of the expansion on the marine environment.
