About us

The vision of the HEARAZ Research Training Group is the comprehensive inter- and transdisciplinary training of junior scientists for the efficient development of a new generation of networked technical assistance systems close to the ear (“hearables”) and their embedding in life and healthcare practice. This vision is realized conceptually and technologically through the networking of hearing aids with sensors and external devices.

5 positions for doctoral students are available for scientific qualification at the University of Oldenburg and at the University of Bremen

Your profile

Successful candidates should have completed their master studies (or complete them before signing the contract) in the fields of informatics/data science, engineering/physics, speech and audio signal processing, or closely related fields.

Required qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (see above)
  • Substantial knowledge and proven interest in at least one of the following research areas:
    • Informatics/Data Science/AI
    • Engineering/Physics
    • Speech and Audio Signal Processing
    • Ethics and Social Sciences
  • Method skills in at least one of the areas:
    • Qualitative research, e.g. interview techniques, text analysis etc.
    • Quantitative research, e.g. statistics, mathematical modelling, numerical modelling etc.
    • Programming, e.g. programming languages, tools, machine learning, AI etc.
  • Excellent proficiency of English or German (C1 level)
  • Interest in pursuing a PhD

Desirable qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team
