Ableism in our language is often unconsciously reproduced as a form of discrimination. On the one hand, our ableist language hurts and categorises certain groups of people; on the other hand, we exclude them by not allowing them to participate in our communication. In this online training course, you will learn how you can use inclusive language to break down barriers and promote respectful interaction.

A fellow student incites hatred against refugees in the lecture, your friends use right-wing terms without thinking or a professor makes fun of "gender gaga". Right-wing populism is on the rise. But how do I identify right-wing ideas and what is the best way to counter them? Why is language so important?  In the "LOUD against the right" workshop, we will sharpen your awareness of right-wing populist language and its effects, self-harm and creeping brutalisation. Practical examples will help you to recognise and counter discriminatory and anti-democratic slogans in your environment and in the university context.

SMART Berlin is a project of HILFE-FÜR-JUNGS e.V. and a counseling center, information project and community space for all (cis and trans) male, non-binary and trans female sex workers. A member of staff will give an introduction to the social, economic and political background of (gay or queer) sex work and will be open to questions and discussions afterwards.
