Welcome to the Autonomous Office for Students with a Disability or Chronic Illness (BeRef) at the University of Oldenburg!

The Autonomous Office for Students with a Disability or Chronic Illness represents the interests of all students who are placed at a disadvantage in their studies because of their condition. We fight for a university that is accessible for people with disabilities and for the equal treatment of disabled and chronically ill students. During our office hours, we offer help with problems in day-to-day university life.

We will inform you of the dates for plenary meetings of all disabled and chronically ill students on our homepage. Here, you will also find recent information about our work, for example the dates of planned sign language courses, first-aid courses, etc.

Who are we here for?

We act as the first point of contact for students and prospective students with:

  • a disability (a certificate attesting to a disability is not necessary)
  • a chronic illness (e.g. diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Chron’s disease, epilepsy, hypothyroidism)
  • a mental illness (e.g. depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, ADHD)
  • an acute illness or disability (e.g. following an accident)

A medical certificate or report is not required to call on our services.
