Katharina Poltze

Katharina Poltze is an educational and social scientist working as a research fellow in the Digital Education in Schools research group at the University of Oldenburg (UOL). In her dissertation, she explores making practices and practices of failure in the context of FabLabs and Maker Spaces as extracurricular, postdigital educational environments. She primarily works with participatory, designoriented, and qualitative-ethnographic research methods.

Curriculum vitae

Katharina Poltze is a research fellow and docotral researcher in the Digital Education in Schools research group at the University of Oldenburg (UOL) since July 2024. Previously, from May 2020 to June 2024, she was a research fellow and doctoral researcher in the collaborative project FaBuLoUS: Supporting schools by teaching and learning in Fablabs, in the Department of Media Transformations at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute. There, she conducted research using participatory, designoriented, and ethnographic methods, particularly focusing on practices in FabLabs and Maker Spaces as extracurricular, postdigital educational environments.

Katharina Poltze completed her Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, where she also completed her Master's degree in Educational Science with a focus on educational, professionalization, and socialization research. In her master's thesis, she explored 'processes of communicatively-networked relationship formation' in the context of dating apps. After completing her studies, she worked as a research associate in the 'Media Research with a Focus on Educational Media' department at the Institute of Educational Science in Göttingen from January to April 2020.
