The German Centre for Marine Biodiversity Research (DZMB) was founded on 01.01.2001 and is located at the Senckenberg am Meer site in Wilhelmshaven.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Pedro Martínez Arbizu, the diversity of marine life from the open water to the seabed is researched at two DZMB sites in Wilhelmshaven and Hamburg.
