Qualification offers & workshops

For the career development of doctoral candidates, the University of Oldenburg offers interdisciplinary qualification programs in which skills relevant to the labor market can be acquired both for the academic field and for the non-academic professional world:

The Graduate Academy aims to support academic career paths at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and offers a differentiated qualification concept for participants of all qualification levels (from the doctoral phase onwards) and all faculties. You can find an overview of advice and qualification offers as well as career paths for academics on their website.

The Graduate Academy unites two graduate schools: the Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities (3GO) and the Graduate School of Science, Medicine and Technology (OLTECH). They create space for cooperation, exchange and joint activities between different graduate programs and offer subject-related, interdisciplinary training and qualification opportunities.

  • The 3GO comprises the faculties I-IV, with the exception of the Department of Computer Science: https://uol.de/3go.
  • OLTECH comprises Faculties V-VI and the Department of Computer Science: https://uol.de/oltech.

Events

For events such as the annual PhD Days in Groningen and Oldenburg as well as workshops and other events, see the Graduate Academy website.

You will be kept up to date about events organized by the PhD student representatives (such as regulars' tables, pub quizzes, closed film evenings, writing workshops and writing groups) in the community forum on Stud.IP; please check your student e-mail inbox from time to time. For ideas and suggestions, you can contact us at any time.

S4F bike tour

With the Scientists4Future bicycle tour, a new series of events was launched in 2022/23 to bring together projects on sustainable development in the region and young scientists from all faculties. You can find more information on the project website.

Federal Association of Doctoral Candidates

On 26.09.2023, the Bundesverband Promovierende e.V. was founded from an association of doctoral student representatives from all over Germany. Among other things, it is intended to be the voice of doctoral candidates on key issues such as the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG). The website is: www.promovierende.de.

UniWiND

The Universitätsverband zur Qualifizierung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses in Deutschland e. V. (UniWiND) was founded in 2009 and is a forum for cross-university exchange on opportunities, challenges and reforms in the promotion of early career researchers. UniWiND is the only national organization in Germany that deals exclusively with issues relating to the promotion of doctoral candidates and postdocs. You can find out more on their website: www.uniwind.org.
