The competent and helpful staff will also be happy to provide you with advice and assistance with the application process.

Doing a doctorate in Oxford: The Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the most important scholarships in the world. The oldest international scholarship is currently awarded annually to 100 students from all over the world. It enables students with above-average performance and a wide range of commitments to pursue a fully-funded Master's or doctoral degree at the University of Oxford. You can find more information on the website of the Scholarships Service Center.

Scholarships for disabled students and doctoral candidates

There are also special funding opportunities for students and doctoral candidates with disabilities. Take a look at the website of the Studentenwerk Oldenburg.

Family service

Reconciling family and career/studies involves many different challenges and can become a problem due to multiple burdens. The University of Oldenburg's Family Service provides support in the search for viable solutions for balancing work/studies, doctoral work and family.

Psychological counseling service (PBS)

Life sometimes presents us with major challenges. Not only the doctoral project itself, but also complicated relationships with colleagues, settling into a new environment, private problems or financial instability can make us feel that we are not up to the task of academic life. For all small and large, acute and chronic worries, you can contact the Psychological Counseling Service (PBS) of the Studentenwerk and the University of Oldenburg anonymously and free of charge at any time.

University sports

A work-life balance is also essential during the doctoral phase. For a physical balance to the mostly intellectual activities, you can take advantage of the extensive range of university sports on offer. In addition to a wide range of sports and exercise options (including numerous daily courses that are free for enrolled students/promotion students and can be attended spontaneously without prior registration), a fitness and health center as well as the university pool and sauna await you. For a small fee, external or non-enrolled students can also get their money's worth. So what are you waiting for?
