As part of the Digitization Professorships project, employees of the University of Oldenburg were able to go on a project trip to South Africa, Cape Town, in November 2023. A workshop for teachers was organized on site with the aim of reviewing translated teaching and learning materials that are already being used successfully at the University of Oldenburg (including ChemOL and IT2School) and assessing their function in countries with limited resources. The project trip included visits to schools in very differently situated areas as well as the three-day workshop given by the chemistry and IT didactics team. The local teachers were enthusiastic and the desire to repeat the trip soon was expressed by all sides. The trip was a complete success and shows how important teaching-learning events and the sharing of materials are and that the offer here should be extended even further.
