On April 13th, 2023, it was time again. Numerous students, teachers, and interested individuals gathered for the Chemistry Day, gaining insights into the breadth of chemical research and its applications. What will the plastics of the future look like? What role does electricity play in the formation of molecules? And how can fuels be obtained from waste? The institute presented entertaining lectures, information booths, a student competition for the 12th grade, and an experimental lecture on these and other exciting topics. In a festive atmosphere, the Angelus Sala Prize was awarded to students in the 10th grade for outstanding achievements in chemistry, and the top performers were honoured. The closing event was the English-language keynote speech "The Future of Plastics" by Prof. Dr. Gert Jan Gruter, a university lecturer at the University of Amsterdam and inventor of plant-based plastic bottles.
Everyone participated with enthusiasm and appreciated the large turnout and the interest of the visitors. For further impressions of this great day, feel free to watch our short film contribution.
We look forward to seeing you again next year! Until then, stay curious!
