Finances and scholarships

You should expect to spend about EUR 870 per month for accommodation, health insurance, and food.

Estimated monthly expenses:

  • Accommodation: EUR 180 to 380
  • Health insurance: approx. EUR 110
  • Food: EUR 150 to 200
  • "Rundfunkbeitrag": monthly amount of EUR 17.50 per flat (can be splitted between flatmates)
  • Miscellaneous expenses (e.g. leisure, books, materials, etc.)

Other expenses:

  • Semester contribution/semester fees (including semester ticket): EUR 350.41 for students of partner universities and DAAD scholarship holders, EUR $425,41 for Freemover
  • Residence permit for students from non-EU countries: EUR 110
  • Intensive German language course during semester break: EUR 250
  • Trips for international students: EUR 60 to 80 per weekend-trip
