Forms for exchange students

Language Requirements

If you would like to take part in courses taught in German, you must have German language skills at level B1 (preferably B2) (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) B2 is required for participation in courses in the field of German Studies (Germanicist). Students who only wish to take courses in English are exempt from the German language requirements.

You must have a very good command of English to take part in English-language courses. The minimum level of English required is B1 (CEFR) or 4.0 (EILTS) or 42 (TOEFL-ibT) or 550/120/120 (TOEIC), although we recommend B2. B2 is required for participation in courses in English Studies, European Studies in Global Perspectives, Education and courses from the English-language Master's programmes.

This requirement has to be confirmed by the sending institution as part of the application for temporary enrolment as an exchange student. An official language certificate must be submitted for the English Studies programme.
