Think Small! Microcredentials – expanding digital skills through mini-courses
How do I create the perfect prompt for a large language model? How can audio recordings be produced as part of an assessment? Can AI also create art?
Artificial intelligence and other digital tools used in higher education are evolving too rapidly for rigid curricula; there is often a lack of scope to experiment with new media. Microcredentials are small, compact learning units that can be adapted to current needs at any time and impart digital skills in a concise format. They enable lifelong learning and can be used from the outset as Open Educational Resource (OER).
In our seminar, wwillwe will discuss the potential use of such mini-courses at the university and work together to develop microcredentials on various topics. The areas of focus are open-ended and will be determined by the participants under guidance. The outcome will be drafts, concepts or finished products that teach practical skills relating to theidigital teaching and learning.

Think Small! is a cross-school course for all Bachelor’s and Master’s students, developed as part of the participate@UOL project. Lecturers from Faculties I, II, III, IV, V and VI will guide the discussions and the selection of topics, and support students in bringing their ideas for microcredentials to life. No specific prior knowledge is required to take part; participants should bring their own digital devices.
