Teaching profile

The School's teaching profile is research-oriented and internationally orientated. In addition to specialised training, teacher training plays a central role. Both profiles are currently being further honed through third-party funded projects as part of the Quality Pact for Teaching. Teaching at Faculty IV is fundamentally committed to the mission statement for teaching at the University of Oldenburg (https://uol.de/leitbild-lehre).

Important prerequisites for research and teaching at Faculty IV include subject-specific excellence, interdisciplinary and international cooperation as well as the complementary unity of research and teaching: research communicates argumentatively and teaches how to recognise, learning means questioning at the same time. The knowledge and skills acquired during the degree programme, as well as critical attitudes to the subject matter, are relevant from a theoretical, methodological and practical perspective for later professional life in various fields of activity. The practical relevance always requires critical reflection on those fields.

The School supports the implementation and further development of the teaching profile of the University of Oldenburg, especially in the areas of teacher training, research-based learning and the internationalisation of research-oriented teaching.
