Prof Dr Gunter Kreutz studied in Marburg, Berlin and San Franciso, obtained his doctorate at the University of Bremen, habilitated at Goethe University Frankfurt and has been teaching systematic musicology at the University of Oldenburg since 2008. Psychological, physical and social meanings of music-making, singing and dancing among amateurs are at the centre of his research interests. He is the author and editor of numerous specialist publications and two non-fiction books. He is also a member of various associations, e.g. the German Society for Music Psychology (DGM), the European Society for Music Perception and Cognition (ESCOM), a reviewer for numerous specialist journals and founding editor of the online journal Music Performance Research. His research has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
