Human Genetics
Human Genetics

Welcome to the Human Genetics Division!
The Human Genetics division bridges basic research and clinical medicine.
Our research aims are
- to identify mutations leading to genetic diseases
- to understand the pathogenic mechanisms underlying genetic diseases
- to develop genetic therapies
Our research mainly focuses on ciliopathies, neurosensory diseases (including retinal dystrophies and hearing deficits) and brain malformations/mental retardations.
Best Paper Award
The Hermine Heusler-Edenhuizen Prize, with which the School honours an outstanding scientific publication, went to a published research paper written by Saskia Breuel in the Human Genetics working group, supervised by Prof. Dr John Neidhardt. We are delighted to receive this honour. This prize is donated by the Friends and Sponsors of the University Medicine Northwest.
