The Landscape Ecology Group at the University of Oldenburg concentrates on two different, yet related fields of research. The first is the prediction and understanding of species response to abiotic factors and changes in landscape use. The second is the generation and evaluation of scenarios for nature conservation.
Linking both fields of research requires to scale up relationships between ecosystem processes and species responses from the patch scale - focus of most empirical studies - to the landscape scale - focus of planning and management issues. We use both modelling and empirical approaches to tackle the problem.

Prediction of species occurences and dynamics in heterogeneous landscapes
Prediction of land use patterns and vegetation types
Generation and evaluation of scenarios for nature conservation
