Prof. Dr Karen Ellwanger supervises doctoral theses in the fields of material culture, museums and exhibitions, clothing and body image and cultural studies gender studies by graduates of cultural studies degree programmes such as museum studies, cultural analysis, art and media studies and history.

Topics of completed and ongoing dissertations include outfitting science, weaving and mathematics, corporate fashion, clothing in the Nazi era, eco-styles, multiple gender systems and anonymous burials.
