A business idea that makes our working culture richer: Oldenburg start-up Tandemploy supports people who want to share a full-time job with a job-sharing platform. It has now received an EXIST start-up grant.
Since 1 September 2013, a team led by the three founders - Anna Kaiser, Jana Tepe and Miriam Wilhelm - has been working on the business idea for a year with the aim of bringing Tandemploy to market maturity. The three founders were advised by the Chair of Entrepreneurship at the University of Oldenburg. The EXIST start-up grant amounts to 92,000 euros. It supports students, graduates and scientists from universities and non-university research institutions who want to turn their start-up idea into a business plan. The EXIST start-up grant is a funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The Tandemploy.com platform aims to simplify and promote job-sharing working relationships. The young start-up offers a new type of service for a working model that is increasingly in demand in Germany - both from employees looking for a flexible job and from companies looking to recruit highly qualified staff.
On tandemploy.com, people interested in job sharing can find their perfect match - and meet companies that are open to this working model. The technology-supported "matching" process, which checks the suitability of interested parties with each other and with companies, is based on an algorithm developed by the founders themselves.
Jana Tepe from Tandemploy explains: "We complement each other perfectly as a team, we know each other from our previous jobs and have already worked very well together there. We are pursuing a vision with our idea and our service offers real customer benefits - that's what drives us."
The founders previously worked in a recruitment consultancy for internet companies. Here they recognised the growing need for new ways to find employees. They decided to take the leap into self-employment - and to implement their own solution.
Hanno Kortleben, research assistant at the Chair of Entrepreneurship, advised Tandemploy and is impressed by the idea and the team: "The job tandem business is highly interesting and topical. The expertise of the founders, the clear benefits for the customers and the innovative approach of the business model were decisive for the success of the application for the EXIST start-up grant."
